Tadalafil treats two conditions simultaneously

Tadalafil (the trade name is Cialis) is a FDA-approved medication that is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) as well. It effectively copes with symptoms of this condition. When a person suffers from BHP, his prostate gland increases.

It is convenient to use Cialis when man has both conditions simultaneously: erectile dysfunction and benign prostatic hyperplasia. Taking one medication the patient is able to get rid of both diseases. In 2003 Tadalafil became the legal remedy used for erectile dysfunction treatment in USA.

BHP is sometimes called adenofibromyomatous hyperplasia or BEP Ė benign enlargement of prostate. When it occurs, the man experiences problems with urination. The size of the prostate gland increases and, consequently, pressure on urethra grows. As a result, the urine flow canít squeeze through narrow channel - it becomes lower or just stops. Man has to visit bathroom often because sudden urges to urinate appear. At this he is not able to empty the bladder entirely. One of the most unpleasant symptoms is incontinence when the patient is unable to find toilet at once. The man can see also blood in the urine when adenofibromyomatous hyperplasia develops.

The severity of BHP symptoms can be determined by International Prostate Symptoms Score (IPSS). The studies revealed that daily intake of 5 mg of tadalafil enhanced the condition of the patient considerably. The research was conducted on cases with lower IPSS scores.

Other research showed that patients who suffer from adenofibromyomatous hyperplasia and erectile dysfunction at the same time were able to improve in both conditions after treatment with 5 mg of tadalafil on a daily basis. Erectile Function domain score was used for measuring of the severity of ED condition before and after treatment.

The director of Reproductive and Urologic Products Division in FDA Scott Monroe agrees that quality of life decreases greatly when patient is diagnosed with BHP. He also said that older men mainly suffer from adenofibromyomatous hyperplasia. Erectile dysfunction is also more widespread in older men so when two conditions are connected, one medication can beat both conditions simultaneously.

Men who take nitrates and medication that include this substance such as nitroglycerin are not allowed to be treated with Cialis. The dangerous combination can cause sudden drop of blood pressure in such patients. Cialis canít be combined with alpha blockers too for the same reason.

The list of FDA approved medications developed for treatment of adenofibromyomatous hyperplasia includes Proscar, Avodart, Jalyn, and such alpha-blockers as Uroxatral, Cardura, Hytrin, Rapaflo, Flomax. The list is expanding so Cialis (tadalafil) also entered it when it was approved by Federal Drug Administration.
